Located in Sydney’s northern beaches, Dee Why RSL owners tasked Altis Architecture with creating a redevelopment masterplan, offering club members a quality experience unlike anything in the surrounding area. Louvreclad were engaged by repeat customer Hutchinson Builders to deliver a turn-key design, engineer, supply and install solution for all louvres, sunscreens and perforated aluminium screens.

This included Barossa Series® prefabricated screens, Polaris Series® perforated cassette cladding, Jupiter Series® performance louvres and a Delta Series plant screen, all as specified by Altis Architecture.

As experts in aluminium fabrication, our team proposed an aluminium alternative to the large steel batten screens proposed to the south façade. This eliminated the previously required heavy steel support structure that could be prone to corrosion in close proximity to the sea.

Aluminium is naturally corrosion resistant and consequently, Louvreclad’s aluminium screen solution delivered a lighter weight, more corrosion resistant and cost-effective alternative.

The Louvreclad Barossa Series® screens were designed, engineered, and fabricated in 5x2 metre prefabricated modules, which were supported by 178x178mm powder coated marine grade aluminium SHS support framing to sit between the pre-cast concrete walls.  All of these modules were manufactured, and powder coated in Louvreclad's production facility and delivered in kit form, providing ease of transport and assembly on site. All pieces were pre-drilled to ensure simple and quick installation. Hutchinson Builders then supplied a rigging company who utilised a block and tackle to lift the panels into place. We were then able to bolt the panels to the horizontal beams through ore drilled holes.
This project stands as a great example of how prefabricated modular construction and good coordination saves time and provides on-site efficiencies for the builder & client.
