Typically, Louvreclad solutions are bespoke custom products installed to the exterior building envelope. As such, Louvreclad will undertake project specific structural design review to ensure manufactured and installed solutions meet the requirements of AS/NZS 1170.1 – Permanent, imposed and other actions, AS/NZS 1170.2 – Wind actions, and AS 1170.4 – Earthquake actions in Australia.
At Louvreclad, we work extensively with aluminium products ranging from extrusion, sheets, and plates. As per requirement by NCC, Louvreclad aluminium products are generally designed adopting the principles outlined in AS 1664.
This Australian Standard outlines performance testing for weather louvres. All Louvreclad louvres are designed and certified to this standard, offering comparative data on rain defence and airflow pressure drop. Testing louvres can be done experimentally or via CFD. Rain resistance is classified from Class A (99-100% effective) to Class D (80% effective). Aerodynamic tests determine discharge coefficients (Cd) and classify louvres by Cd values. AS 4740 provides assurance and clear guidance to specifiers and contractors, ensuring that project-specific performance requirements are met.
